With his win of the 2019 Masters, Tiger Woods capped off what many call the great comeback in sports history. Now, going into the U.S. Open Championship at Pebble Beach, where Woods has an illustrious history, his story continues. "We definitely saw the impact after he won the Master's because out ticket sales in those first few weeks after doubled from what they were prior to the Master's," said Pebble Beach CEO Bill Perocchi. The Master's win was impressive, but nothing like the dominance Woods showed at the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach in 2000. Nine years ago, he won by an astonishing 15 strokes, but that was before injuries and personal problems threatened to cut shot his storied career. With all of that excitement comes increased expectations: Can Tiger Woods live up to the high hopes of his own fans? "He loves this place. he has played well here throughout his career and I think he has a magical relationship with the golf course," said Pebble Beach Groundskeeper Laird Small. To pull it off, Woods will need to get through the stars of the next generation, the young guys he helped draw to the game. "A lot of guys grew up watching tiger and came to the game because of what he was doing at the turn of the century," said golf analyst Alan Shipnuck. Can Tiger Woods live up to the high hopes of his own fans?
